Is ''Justice'' Really Being Served?

The Article ''Race and Class in the American Criminal Justice System''  By David Cole basically speaks off inequality in the justice system. He starts off the essay by touching on the 1994 O.J. Simpson trail., He stated that because of his reputation of being am iconic football baller and his ''dream team'' of lawyers that he was found not guilty, but if it was another black male who was of lesser value, then he would of been immedialty thrown into jail with no chance of getting out. David Cole then further explains as that ''Equality, however, is a difficult and elusive goal'' referring to the difference between the rich and the poor, due to the conditions that the minority suffer through, they are subject to random searches, unfair trails, police brutality, etc. whereas someone that belongs in the wealthy class will not have to deal with this. David Cole later states that the double standard plays a big role in the judicial system, the judicial system plays favorites to who they think is guilty and not guilty.

Stanford Prison Study

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDrecm5tyl0

The Stanford Prison Study shows that your role defines your behavior. In 1971, Psychologist Philip Zimbardo along with some of his colleagues came up with the idea to set up an experiment that placed ordinary people to become a prisoner or prison guard. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate peoples reaction to the roles they are put in.

The researchers set up a fake prison in the basement of the Stanford University's psychology building and picked out 24 undergraduate students to play the roles of prisoners and prison guards. The undergraduates agreed to participate for the two week program for $15 a day. The experiment did not make the two week mark, it had to be stopped due to what the volunteers was experincing, the guards started to become abusive, hostile even and the prisoners displayed signs of submission to the guards to get on their good side, due to this the prisoners started to suffer from stress, anxiety, depression and passive aggression. Some prisoners even started to cry. The  experiment showed that the ''power role'' was taking advantage of, it also showed how that specific ''power role'' can drastically affect people in a way that they have no choice to submit.

Who Am I?

Who am i? A general question that holds a lot of meaning. I'm many things, i am down to earth, humble, funny,a good friend and many more. My experiences made me who  I am; I may come off as a bit distant at first but that's in my nature,as time passes on, I open up more. My biggest influence in my life would have to be my mother. Why? because she's been through a lot in her life but she is still able to smile and be joyful. Some people can't do that and i have a high amount of respect for my mother for that. Right now I don't know what my purpose or my goals are, things like these I can sit and ponder about all day because I, myself don't even know the answer, it scares me almost. Not fully knowing my purpose is on this earth, if i had to say i had a main goal, it would be to successful in life and be able to do for myself and others.
